01.The Homeowner Fee
If you own a house, a building, or land, you have to pay property tax every year. Property tax is based on how much your property is worth. The government sends an inspector to estimate the value, and the owner pays a small percentage of that value.
02.Supporting Schools and Roads
Property taxes are collected by local city and county governments. Most of this money goes directly to support your local public schools! It pays for teachers, books, school buses, and sports equipment. It also pays for local road paving and public library books.
03.Renters Pay Too
Even if you rent an apartment, you are paying property tax indirectly. The landlord uses a portion of your rent money to pay the property taxes on the building. Everyone helps support the local schools!
