What are Taxes?
01.The Community Club Fee
Imagine you want to join a club with a pool, slides, and games. To keep the club running, every member has to pay a fee. Taxes are like the membership fee for living in a city, state, and country! Everyone contributes a small share of their money to pay for public things we all use.
02.Who Collects Them?
Governments collect taxes. In the US, taxes go to local governments (cities and counties), state governments, and the federal (national) government. The laws say that paying taxes is a requirement for everyone who earns or spends money.
03.The Public Good
Without taxes, we wouldn't have public libraries, community parks, or clean roads. We pay taxes so we can build a strong, safe, and happy community together.
