Sales & Use Tax Permits
01.Selling Tangible Goods
If your business sells physical products (and sometimes services) to customers, you must apply for a Sales Tax Permit (or Seller's Permit) from your state tax authority.
02.Collecting Sales Tax
Once registered, you must collect the appropriate state and local sales tax from customers at the point of sale and remit it to the state on a monthly or quarterly basis.
03.Economic Nexus
Under modern US laws, if your online store sells to customers in other states and exceeds certain sales thresholds (typically $100,000 or 200 transactions), you must register and collect sales tax in those states as well.
