State Tax Registration
01.Registering with the State Department of Revenue
Once you have your EIN, you must register your business with your state's Department of Revenue (or franchise tax board) to pay state corporate income taxes and employment taxes.
02.State Unemployment Tax (SUTA)
If you plan to hire employees, you must set up a SUTA account with your state's department of labor to fund unemployment benefits.
03.Franchise Taxes
Some states charge a franchise tax for the privilege of doing business in the state, regardless of whether your business made any profit (e.g., California's $800 annual minimum franchise tax).
