The Credit Score

01.Your Financial Report Card

In school, teachers give you grades to show how well you do your homework. In the financial world, specialized companies give adults a grade called a credit score. It's a three-digit number between 300 and 850 that tells banks how trustworthy you are with money.

02.How to Get an A+

You get a high credit score by paying your bills on time, never borrowing more than you can pay back, and keeping your credit card balances low. If you forget to pay your bills or borrow too much, your score goes down.

03.Why it Matters

A high credit score is like a golden ticket. It makes banks happy to lend you money, and they will charge you a lower interest rate! A low credit score means banks might refuse to lend to you, or they will charge you a very high interest rate because they are worried you won't pay them back.
