01.Core Concepts

When an insurer increases the size of the sample of insureds: Underwriting risk increases, because more insured units could suffer a loss. But, underwriting risk does not increase proportionately. It increases by the square root of the increase in the sample size. There is “safety in numbers” for insurers!
