• Rental for less than 15 days • Income is realized but not recognized. • No expenses may be claimed. • Mortgage interest and property taxes (up to $10,000 in 2018-2025 OBBBA increased to $40,400 in 2026) treated as personal expenses may be claimed on Schedule A (Itemized Deductions). • Tax years 2026 – 2029 the $40,400 (2026) deduction limit for state and local taxes increases by 1% each year. Phaseouts apply for high income taxpayers. • Tax years 2030 and after, the deduction limit returns to $10,000.
