01.Business Litigation
Patent cases in federal court and at the ITC, plus trademark, copyright, trade dress, unfair competition and breach of contract. The work follows the court's calendar and is usually billed hourly against a retainer, sometimes on contingency or hybrid terms.
02.Outside General Counsel
Entity formation, contract review and regulatory compliance for companies without in-house counsel. Many small requests arrive every month, typically under a monthly retainer with hourly billing for anything outside the agreed scope.
03.IP Procurement
Patent and trademark applications, copyright registration, customs recordation and China patent protection. This line runs on statutory deadlines that stretch over a decade or more, and is usually billed as a flat fee per stage with government fees passed through.
04.IP Valuation
Portfolio analysis, patent and trademark brokering, technology transfer and licensing. The work is project and deal based, billed as an analysis fee plus a success fee when a deal closes.
